What is Transportation Demand Management?
Transportation Demand Management strategies are designed to promote programs intended to maximize the people-moving capability of the transportation system by shifting travel to non-automobile modes, increasing the number of people in vehicles, and influencing the time or need to travel. These strategies include programs such as carpooling, vanpooling, alternative work schedules, biking, walking, and transit.
City of Boca Raton Transportation Demand Management Ordinance
In October 2002, the City of Boca Raton adopted a Transportation Demand Management (TDM) Ordinance (No. 4677) for the Downtown Boca Raton Area. The goal of this ordinance is to reduce traffic congestion in the Downtown area by reducing peak period traffic and single occupancy vehicle trips. This reduction in peak hour trips is fundamental to the continued growth, development and prosperity of the City. The TDM Ordinance requires Downtown locations which employ more than 50 employees and residential developments with more than 30 units to implement a TDM Plan. If you are a Downtown property and are not yet in compliance with this Ordinance, please make an appointment with the TMI Administrator today to find out more information on the TDM Ordinance and the easy steps to comply.
City of Boca Raton TDM Ordinance
The City of Boca Raton has several requirements for existing developments and new developments within the Downtown, as well as certain development districts within the City to comply with the TDM Ordinance.
Existing Developments:
Is your property currently located within the City’s Downtown District, but not yet in compliance with the City's TDM Ordinance? The TMI can assist your property in developing a TDM plan, completing your application, and executing your strategies.
Are you interested in developing a new commercial or residential space within the City? Are you aware of the TDM requirements for your property? Various new developments within the City of Boca Raton must complete a TDM application and submit a TDM plan. The TMI can review your site plan, provide suggestions, assist you in completing your application, and developing your plan.
